In gardening, weeding for 20 minutes a day is better than a 2 hour block on the weekend. However, some jobs like spring soil preparation, winter clean up, or creating a new flower or vegetable bed need blocks of time. Expecting the bigger jobs to be finished in 20 minutes leads to frustration. Leaving the weeding to the weekend ends up with more weeds to pull up.
This is true in most areas of our lives – from exercise to communication to finances to writing to our job. Being clear on what are the 20 minute ‘dailies’ and what require blocks of time is critical.
