Used soda bottles creating light sources…

A friend of mine sent me an amazing youtube link on Facebook to this video. It is pure genius and innovation at its purest. A man in a slum, picks up a discarded 2 litre Pepsi bottle, cleans it, fills it with water, cuts a hole in his roof and inserts the bottle – now filled with clean water – into the hole in the roof, cements it in place with tar and voila – a new light source that is FREE, simple, and affordable. Amazing!

Solutions like this is what gets me excited as people living on a dollar or two a day can experience huge improvements to their quality of life through simple ideas like this.

It’s worth checking out the organisation set up to support this work called A Liter of Light for more information.
