As is often stated, a network is only as good as the number of actors (nodes) on it. The network effect. Nothing new; forget it to your peril.
Thinking about the network forces us to think beyond ourselves; thinking only of myself is a sure way to fail.
For cash programming to work in a programme, we need to be thinking of
- Legal contracts
- Data protection, privacy
- Trust between merchant and NGO; merchant and beneficiary
- Awareness of merchant and beneficiaries
- Liquidity of merchants
- Liquidity of banks at the last mile
The more we can reduce the friction between the nodes in the network, the more trust is built and the stronger the network becomes. Strangely, this where the least amount of effort directed.
