Detachment and passionate engagement are unlikely cousins as we often think of them as opposite ends of the spectrum, but what if they are at the same end, just different and equally important branches?
What if detachment is needed so our identity does not become intertwined with our idea, our system, our technology, or the change we are seeking to bring about. But at the same time can we passionately engage listening, hearing, encouraging other perspectives and sharing our own so the change we desire comes to life?
When we are not detached slightly, separating our ideas from our identity, shame easily leaps in (e.g. I am stupid person), which is never helpful.
