Principles feel easy; feel aspirational and perhaps even unrealistic. 

Standards feel heavier; firmer; more real. 

Standards feel enforceable, principles do not. Standards feel like things  I will be judged against; principles feel more like guidelines; optional. 

Principles are perhaps a starting point that takes us to standards. 

And yet maybe not, maybe for you it’s the opposite. Being clear is the important bit. 

Hold people to account for that which is enforceable; without accountability it can be perceived as a PR stunt. 

Networks need governance; governance needs trust; and trust needs consequences for abiding and not abiding.
