A person will be called to account on Judgment Day for every permissible thing he might have enjoyed but did not

The Talmud

How’s that for a twist on judgement? Feels a bit like a mic drop moment long before mics were even a thing.

just to be clear, joy does not equal happy. Joy is much broader, embracing all aspects of emotions and experience, and says because of the suffering, pain, and darkness, I choose to enjoy this moment of goodness.

This view of joy is critical in whatever change processes we are engaged with, there always can be moments of joy to be present in.
