Sometimes when we are tired we need to sleep. Other times, we need to exercise. It’s counterintuitive, odd even. To get rid of the tiredness, we need to do to use our tired body more. There is tiredness from overwork and tiredness from underwork. Knowing when to sleep and when to exercise takes practice but is a valuable skill to develop.
The same can be said about leading teams and organisations. Figuring out when to pull back to let the team breathe and when to stretch them is an art. Most of all it requires knowing the people on your team and the team as a whole. It is not just about numbers, metrics, and technology, leadership is about people and empathy.
