Sometimes we need others to give us the nod, to approve our plan. Sometimes we even need them to give funding to ‘show’ their backing. And yes, sometimes it is needed. But often we can start without it. Often the barrier to the project is not the permission or approval of others. Often it is the permission and approval from ourselves.
Permission and approval from others does not change the fact it might not work. It does not change the risk that others might not show up. Convening costs little, but does come with the risk that you might be talking to yourself.
Often when we admit we are waiting for permission or approval, we are hiding and using it as an excuse to start because we are afraid it might not work. And yes, this is a very real fear. But we can start anyway.
And it is often in the starting that we find the approval we seek.
The choice is up to us.
