‘I’ll do that when I have 6 month salary saved.’
‘I’ll realise my dream next year.’
‘I’ll be more patient when X is finished or improves.’
We all say or tell ourselves versions of these. We assume the future will be better than today and in the future we will be ‘ready’. When we reach financial security or a project, work, a relationship changes, then we will write a book, build a garden, travel to X, take a holiday, leave town or whatever we not starting today.
We’ve all been there. Some of us are there right now. You are not alone.
But what would happen if instead of saying ‘We’ll do X when we reach Y’ we ask ourselves, ‘What part of X can I do today?’ And yes, there is always something. It is in the starting today that we become ready.
So what can you do today?
The choice is up to us.
