Forging New Paths

forging new paths

Estimating how long a task will take is difficult. If you are a skilled practitioner of the task, your estimation will be different than a first timer who is frankly guessing. But it also doesn’t mean that the ‘first timer’ should be dimissed without consideration. Perhaps she is seeing new approaches the skilled practitioner does not. Neither should the skilled practitioner be dismissed as being ‘stuck’ in his ways.

We are all skilled practitioners in some areas and first timers in others. The trick is to be open to the other. When we are, when we listen to other, not to dismiss but to learn from, we combine the best of both worlds and forge new ways forward.

The choice is up to us.

And it not just about estimating time.
