mundane

When yuo think back to your time as a child, what are the memories you have? Often they will be unique, one off experiences – visiting a special place, doing something brave, or so on. Sometimes they are repetitive things you did eveery week, month or year. Rarely are they the mundane things like cleaning the house, going to school, or visiting the doctor/dentist.

This is not to say these things aren’t important, they just tend not to be memorable.

Aspects of change tend to fall into similar camps – the important, but mundane tasks and the memorable ones. However, the memorable, just like art, is in the eye of the beholder.

As you work with your team, it can be helpful to figure out, with each person, what is mundance and what is memorable. And then ensure everyone has a mixture. It helps shape the story we tell ourselves and others.
