depression

All of have low or down days. Days when we don’t feel great about ourselves or our life. Some of us have weeks or months of this. Sometimes it’s affected by the weather, other times it’s much deeper than that.

Whatever the cause, the experience is real for the person. Downplaying it or making fun of it or the person is never helpful. If you are the person experiencing low days or depression, telling a trusted friend can help. If your the friend or coworker being told, reminding the other they are loved, responding in kindness, and listening is always a good response.

People who live on the spectrum of depression are not defective humans. We are human. We are your family members, friends, neighbours, colleagues, and coworkers. And we don’t need your judgement. We need your acceptance and presence.
