Most surfers are keen weather watchers. When the wind and tide are just right, they go surfing. It cannot be scheduled in the way we schedule meetings or birthday parties. When the surf is good, they go surfing.
Part of the role of leadership and change makers is to watch organisations and industries. To ‘read’ them. When the ‘surf’ is good, leaders and change makers go surfing.
And to use the power of waves (trends) to move organisations and industries into new places. The wave will carry you forward, but often surfing is about going across the wave or through the ‘tunnel’ the wave creates.
What trends are you surfing in your work?
