When we share our story, our worldview, our idea of change – are we trying to convert the other or build a relationship? It might seem like a silly question but it changes the words we use. It shapes our approach. And the person receiving your approach, can tell the difference.
In many ways, change is about conversion. However, conversion rarely happening without relationship. And yet, more often than not, we want to start with conversion.
And here’s the thing.
Perhaps it’s neither and both.
Change and conversion is not a one way street. It is not about changing others to be the same as you. Change happens in relationship because it is an invitation to journeying together. Change is not a solo sport. It is a team activity.
This is true in our personal lives and organisationally. Who are you inviting?
