Looking Back

learning

There are great people doing amazing things out there. Here are few things I’ve been reading, learning about, and found inspiration this week.

Reading

This week I read an ‘old’ book published in 1986 called Responsible Technology edited by Stephen Monsma. In a weird way, it wasn’t a lot about technology, but rather much more about how the values, worldviews, and perspectives we hold shape not only the choices we make, but the designs of technology. It’s a bit heavy going, but still worth skimming.

Learning

I’ve been learning about how amazing our bodies are. This week I was ill. My body basically shut down after interacting with a flu bug combined with being run down after an extended period of stress. ‘Enough’ it said and I was in bed for 36 hours straight, which is unheard of for me. Take care of yourself and listen to your body is my learning this week.

Inspiring

Flooding impacts millions of people every year. This week I stumbled across this video which instantly hooked me – flood management, renewable energy, and communities working together. Slow the Flow is a simple, yet powerful idea. Perhaps it will inspire you too.
