It is common to hear complaints about not having enough time. Or to say them ourselves. However, it changes when we realise we have a significant amount of time. Our 24 hours are as long as the next person’s 24.
What we do with the 24 hours is the difference. How much time do we waste? Watching mindless TV, social media scrolling, mindless research even though we already know what to do, and so on.
If we didn’t waste time, how much time would we free up in a day? 2 hours? 4 hours? If we’d free up 2 hours a day that would be an extra 1/2 half day each week, an extra 25 days a year.
Sometimes a time audit can help create the change we need.
And here’s the thing. If you do the ‘new’ thing first – the hour of exercise or of writing – the rest of your day tends to fit around it, just with less time for the doom scrolling.
