Desired public private partnerships can sometimes feel like a flash in the pan – be quick, be gone. We want a quick fix, a hit and the private sector to foot the bill. We view ourselves as the ‘good ones’ in the relationship so of course they will line up and we will be sought after.
Yet, like in relationships, while Tinder might be good for a few hours (or the night if we are lucky) of fun, commitment opens the door to a new world; an invitation to change.
When companies partner like MasterCard and a bank, they look for a long term relationship (10 year minimum) as they know benefits and profit (or impact) take a while to nurture and achieve.
Why would we expect anything different?
