Change is inevitable. How we lead through change is a choice.

Dictators lead by using fear and even uncertainty. They say “you must do this, or else…”

Another option would be to provide clarity on the vision of where we need to go and then ask “what do you think it is the best way to get there?”

And still another option would be to provide clarity on the vision and ask “how do you think you can contribute to helping us get there?”

Leaders create the conditions where people choose new actions.

The choices are voluntary. They’re made by people who see a new landscape, new opportunities and new options.

You can’t make people change. But you can create an environment where they choose to.
